How to wash Leather Jacket
Following are instructions to wash a leather jacket.
- A smooth surfaced leather jacket only needs to be thoroughly cleaned and reconditioned once a year.
- In order to wash a smooth surfaced leather jacket, try using soft soap or detergent. Rub or wipe the entire surface of the jacket with detergent using a wet cloth. Wash the jacket with a clean damp sponge, and pat off any excess water on the jacket. Leave the jacket to dry on the hanger making sure there is plenty or air circulation. For the rest of the year simply use a damp or spongy cloth and wipe it off.
- In order to avoid dryness or cracks to appear on the jacket, simply use a mink oil or leather conditioner by rubbing it on the top of the jacket.
- Do not use excessive oil or coating on the jacket as it will get gluey and sticky. Only dry clean jacket if it is very dirty as dry cleaning tends to remove the leather jacket Patina. Only use specialized leather jackets cleaners for dry clean.
